Asbestos Overview
Asbestos is a non-combustible, naturally occurring mineral formed millions of years ago. In the more recent past, from the early 1900’s to the late 1970’s, asbestos was used in a wide-variety of commercial products. Some common uses include shipbuilding, fireproofing, thermal and acoustical insulation, condensation control, decoration, and in the construction and manufacturing sectors. Asbestos was once considered a champion insulator because it is durable, resists corrosion, and insulates extremely well, thus it was used in a massive number of products. That’s until we learned more about this so-called wonder insulator. Asbestos has a fatal side effect – it causes severe health problems (some of them fatal) from differing amounts of exposure. The problem is, asbestos has been used throughout the United States for so long that there is a lot of it still out there.
What is Arizona Doing About Dangerous Asbestos Products?
The state of Arizona does not take this product lightly. The state has asbestos regulations in place, along with those established by the federal government.
