Founded in 1855 and memorialized in song by both Carl Perkins and Old 97, Champaign has a rich and interesting history. Abraham Lincoln traveled the county many times during his career as a lawyer and the first Farm Aid concert was held here in 1985. People as diverse as author David Foster Wallace, rapper Ludacris, and columnist George Will have all called Champaign home.
Perhaps best known as home to the esteemed University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Champaign also hosts thriving businesses in the high tech research, manufacturing and healthcare industries. Located near Chicago, Indianapolis and St. Louis, Champaign has a mix of residents, visitors and influences and it is inevitable that legal issues sometimes arise. When they do, here is a listing of the major courthouses in the area.
