Tennessee Tax Laws

Taxes are unavoidable in any state; and while no one enjoys paying taxes, they help fund important public services such as roads, public schools, fire departments, and other entities that Tennessee citizens depend upon daily. Under Tennessee law, sales tax is 7 percent (before local taxes are added), gasoline tax is 20 cents per gallon, beer is taxed at $4.29 per barrel and wine at $1.21 per gallon.
