Lawsuits for medical malpractice, car accidents, product liability, and slip-and-fall accidents fall under the accident and injury legal practice. Workers' compensation also falls under this category, though seldom involves lawsuits. These types of cases are heard in state courts, and each state handles the process a little differently. In Texas, for instance, consumers have two years from the date of the incident in which to file a product liability lawsuit, but just one year for a defamation claim.
